This science textbook makes an effort to include discussion of possible social concerns where they are relevant — This book is an excellent fit for its intended audience because of its focus on concerns such as energy and environmental sustainability, gender equality, and special needs. Students have been urged to weigh in on management discussions (about sustainable development, for instance) so that they may make educated judgements based on a scientific examination of the available concerns. It is the intention of the designers of this book's extra features to increase its usefulness. Each chapter's concept has been presented with real-world examples and, if at all possible, with a relevant exercise for the students to do. To that end, the book takes an entirely activity-based approach, with the expectation that students would use the exercises to build their own understanding of the material. The ideas themselves are highlighted, rather than their explanations and technical nuances. In an effort to make the material more accessible, special effort has been made to avoid watering down the scientific science. Extra information, including tough thoughts that aren't going to be spoken just yet, is generally stored in the light orange boxes. When given the chance to ponder and explore a little bit beyond the syllabus, students may feel compelled to pursue their scientific voyage at higher levels, since much of the thrill of performing science comes from exploring the unknown.
