"Informatics in nursing" is an independent subfield of nursing. Nursing informatics, which has a 25-year history, is "the specialised field that unifies nursing science with various information & analytical sciences in order to discern, delineate, administer, and disseminate data, information, wisdom, and knowledge within the context of nursing practise." To accomplish desired outcomes, nursing informatics assists nurses, consumers, patients, the interprofessional healthcare team, and other stakeholders in their decision-making across all roles and settings. The phrase "nursing informatics" first appeared in scholarly works during the 1980s, where it was defined as the integration of nursing, information, and computer science principles to facilitate the transformation of data into actionable knowledge in the field of nursing. "A specialty that integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in nursing practise" is another definition of nursing informatics (NI). NI provides decision support to consumers, patients, nurses, and other healthcare providers across various positions and contexts. Information technology, information structures, and information procedures are utilised to provide this assistance.
