Dr. Shamshad Begum holds distinguished academic and professional qualifications, including M.Sc. in Zoology, M.Sc. in Psychology, M.Ed., NET (Education), and a Ph.D. in Education.
She is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad, and brings with her an extensive teaching experience of 34 years.
Her areas of specialization include Zoology, Biological Sciences, Methodology, Educational Psychology, Environmental Education, ICT in Education, and Teacher Education. She is also actively involved in teaching English proficiency and Elementary Education.
Dr. Begum has conducted numerous environmental education awareness programs at both school and university levels and possesses rich research experience, ranging from UGC-sponsored minor research projects to supervising postgraduate research students.
She served as the Coordinator at CRIUM, Hyderabad, from 2011 to 2014 for the Diploma in Unani Medicine program under an MoU between MANUU and CRIUM. She has also undertaken UGC-funded research projects and has guided three doctoral candidates as a research supervisor and co-supervisor.
In addition, she is an active member of several academic and administrative committees at MANUU, including the Executive Council and Academic Council.
She has been honored with national awards in February 1983 and October 1983 by the Indian National Science Association, New Delhi, for her essays on Plant Energy and Conservation.
Dr. Begum is a member of the Indian National Science Congress and the Association for Environment and Science.
She has participated in and presented papers at around 150 international, national, and state-level conferences and seminars, and has authored several books in the field of environmental education.
