Book Title: Integrated Nutrient Management in Chickpea Productivity | Optimizing Chickpea Yields | AGPH Books
This book is an academic contribution developed from a postgraduate research study entitled Effect of Integrated Nutrient Management and their Combination on Growth and Yield Attributing Parameters in Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.). It addresses one of the most relevant challenges in contemporary agriculture: how to enhance crop productivity while maintaining soil health and environmental sustainability. With increasing concerns regarding soil degradation, declining fertility, and overdependence on chemical fertilisers, the subject of integrated nutrient management has become both scientifically and practically significant. The book offers a systematic presentation of research conducted under field conditions, combining theoretical understanding with experimental evidence. It begins with a strong conceptual foundation that explains the importance of chickpea as a major pulse crop, its nutritional value, its role in sustainable cropping systems, and its contribution to soil fertility through biological nitrogen fixation. The literature review provides readers with an extensive understanding of previous scientific findings related to organic manures, chemical fertilisers, biofertilisers, and their combined effects on crop performance. A distinctive strength of this book lies in its detailed methodology, which clearly explains experimental design, treatment combinations, agronomic practices, and data recording procedures. This makes it highly valuable for students who are learning research techniques and for scholars who wish to replicate or extend similar studies. The results are presented in a structured manner with statistical interpretation, allowing readers to understand the practical implications of different nutrient management strategies on plant growth, nodulation, yield attributes, and economic returns. iv Overall, this book serves as a meaningful academic resource for students of agriculture, researchers, educators, and professionals who are interested in sustainable farming practices, soil fertility management, and pulse crop improvement.
