Book Title: Indian Polity and Constitutional Law: Theory and Practice

Indian Polity and Constitutional Law: Theory and Practice presents a clear and structured study of India’s constitutional system and political institutions. The book functions as both an academic textbook and a practical reference. Therefore, it is highly useful for students, scholars, and competitive examination aspirants.

To begin with, the book explains the foundations of Indian polity. It traces the historical evolution of the Constitution and outlines its philosophical foundations. In addition, it discusses the core features that shape India’s democratic framework.

The book offers detailed coverage of the Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles of State Policy, and Fundamental Duties. These chapters clearly show how constitutional values promote liberty, equality, justice, and democratic governance. Furthermore, the structure and functioning of Union and State governments are explained in a simple and systematic manner.

Next, the book examines the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government. Special emphasis is placed on judicial review, public interest litigation, and the independence of constitutional bodies. Moreover, federal relations, constitutional amendments, and emergency provisions are discussed with practical relevance.

Finally, the book connects constitutional principles with contemporary governance challenges. Written in a student-friendly style, it aligns well with university syllabi. As a result, it serves as a reliable resource for civil services, judiciary, and other competitive examinations. Overall, the book equips readers with a strong understanding of India’s constitutional democracy and its evolving political landscape.
