Dr. Vismita Paliwal

Dr. Vismita Paliwal, holds a B.Sc. (Distinction), M.Sc. (Gold Medalist), and Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Rajasthan, India, with her credentials recognized internationally by WES. With over 15 years of teaching and research experience, she is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya University, Gorakhpur. She has collaborated with organizations such as the National Literacy Mission, UNICEF (HIV/AIDS awareness), UGC (tribal STD awareness), National Women's Commission, and ICSSR. Her research focuses on forensic psychology, particularly teenage suicide prevention, substance dependence, parenting of children with intellectual disabilities, incarceration, domestic violence, and LGBTQ+ mental health. Dr. Paliwal has supervised 34 postgraduate dissertations and five Ph.D. theses. Her academic contributions include 31 research articles and five books/book chapters published in national and international forums. A permanent resident of Canada, she has taught at the University of the Fraser Valley and York University. She actively promotes Indian Psychology globally, having engaged with academic communities in Japan, the Middle East, Singapore, Canada, Germany, and Poland. She is a member of esteemed bodies including the American Psychological Association, Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists, Indian Academy of Health Psychology, and the Academy of Well-Being Society.
