Book Title: Digital India and privacy laws | Law, Rights and Technology | AGPH Books
Digital India and Privacy Laws: Theory, Practice and Applications explores India's rapid digital transformation and its impact on law, governance, privacy, and individual rights. The book provides an academic and practical understanding of the changing digital environment in India.
First, the book explains the origin and development of digitalization in India. It discusses Digital India, e-Governance, digital infrastructure, online services, and digital empowerment. Furthermore, it examines how technology is changing public services, businesses, communication, and everyday life.
The book also provides an overview of important laws governing the digital environment. In particular, it discusses the Information Technology Act, intermediary regulations, copyright, electronic media, and data protection. Moreover, it explains why privacy laws have become increasingly important as the use of digital technologies continues to expand.
Another major focus of the book is the constitutional Right to Privacy. The authors examine its development through Indian legislation and important judicial decisions. In addition, the book explores the relationship between privacy, dignity, liberty, human rights, and individual freedom.
Furthermore, the book discusses several challenges associated with digitalization. These include cybercrime, digital surveillance, unauthorized data processing, cybersecurity risks, and data protection. It also considers infrastructure gaps and the digital divide that can affect equal access to technology.
However, digital transformation also creates opportunities for better governance and public services. Therefore, the book examines how legal frameworks can support technological development while protecting citizens' rights. It connects legal theory with practical issues to provide a balanced understanding of digitalization and privacy.
